Boldon School Post-16 Students Volunteer to Share “Gadget Skills” with Local Seniors

Our Post-16 computing students visited The Grange, Retirement Home in East Boldon to show residents how to operate new gadgets that they had received from well-meaning relatives and friends, as Christmas presents. The students were able to share their skills and dispel the myth that smart phones, tablets and laptops are for the younger generation. Each resident received support and guidance from the students, on their own particular device and they are now able to keep in contact with friends and relatives using text, Skype or email, and organise photographs of fond memories and past-times.  It was a very relaxed and informal setting and the students were delighted to be of service.
