Subject Intent

Our aim in Design and Technology is to ensure that every student reaches their full potential to design and manufacture products with confidence and accuracy. We support students to become well motivated and to enjoy the subject by developing a range of analytical design thinking skills and a competent set of practical skills. Students are empowered to become enquiring and creative learners who can problem solve through stimulating and challenging lessons.  We strive to build learners who are confident and have high academic aspirations by creating an environment where everyone can experience success. We ensure students are aware of their physical safety by understanding and adhering to rules on safe working practices for tools and machines. Students draw on manufacturing knowledge as well as environmental effects to make design decisions.
