Subject Intent:

The art department at Boldon School is inclusive and our intention is to allow all students to become creators.  The department promotes learning through a variety of experiences including practical activities and theory based approaches. We encourage students to create work in lots of different ways; using different processes, techniques, materials and resources to generate different kinds of ideas and outcomes. We encourage creative and experimental thinking.

In the Photography GCSE course students will be introduced to a variety of experiences that explore a range of photographic media, techniques and processes. They will explore relevant images and other contextual links and resources and then investigate these by creating experiments and refinements both digitally and practically. Students will record their ideas in a variety of different ways to demonstrate their understanding of different styles, genres and traditions.

Throughout their KS4 projects students will work within a number of different areas of photography such as portrait photography, landscape photography, still life photography, photojournalism, experimental imagery, multimedia, photographic installation and moving image.
