Spanish Key Stage 4

In year 9, students will revise foundational concepts studied in year 7 and 8, before exploring the theme of identity and culture. This theme allows students to talk about their world in Spanish and covers topics such as family, technology and social media, free-time activities, sports, food. From a cultural perspective, students will learn about Spanish customs and traditions and from a grammatical perspective, they will start to become more familiar with describing events in the past, present and future.

In year 10, students will learn about local, international and global areas of interest, understanding more about the Spanish-speaking word. Spanish customs and traditions will be studied in greater depth and they will also study contemporary issues such as volunteering, the environment and also learn to talk about holidays. Students will learn how to expand on their opinions and discover ways of producing high-quality language skills.

In year 11, students will learn about current and future studies and future career ambitions. This will enable them to talk about future plans and aspirations in French, exploring potential career paths. Students will also revise previously studied topics, revisiting common grammar and vocabulary across the 3 units of work and prepare for the GCSE examination.
