A good Careers Education Programme is critical if our students are to raise their aspirations and capitalise on the opportunities available to them. The vision of Boldon School Careers programme is to inspire our young people to encounter the world of work and careers pathways throughout their school years.

In line with our school motto “Innovate, Focus, Achieve,” we believe that students will aspire to greater academic achievements, and better fulfil their potential if they understand themselves, their abilities and the possibilities available to them.

All published careers information is reviewed annually. Next review – October 2025.

Our Careers Education programme is based around the framework of eight Gatsby benchmarks of Good Careers Guidance.

  1. A stable careers programme
  2. Learning from career and labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers and employees
  6. Experiences of workplaces
  7. Encounters with further and higher education
  8. Personal guidance

We deliver Careers Education in many ways to ensure that our young people are making informed and well supported decisions.  We frequently measure the impact of our Careers Programme through surveys and focus groups for students, parents and professionals, but the real truth of our success is the annual destination data and the positive outcomes of our students, which we evaluate in the autumn term each year.
