Behaviour & Attitudes to Learning

At Boldon School we believe that good behaviour is essential in order for students to make outstanding progress in their learning and that all students should be able to learn in an environment free from disruption.

Our approach is based on the belief that pupil wellbeing and safety are a fundamental responsibility of all stakeholders:

  • All students, parents and staff should have high expectations of behaviour at all times
  • All students, parents and staff are responsible for developing positive learning behaviours in all students
  • Effective communication between staff, students and parents or carers is fundamental in ensuring a positive culture of excellent behaviour is maintained at all times.
  • High quality teaching and learning promotes good behaviour, and consistent application of lesson routines and behavioural systems is the key to establishing an environment where behaviour is good. The school has adapted a consistent behaviour of fair and simple sanctions that all staff and students must adhere to. Poor behaviour is tackled and addressed with a fresh start approach to the following lessons.

  • Excellent behaviour is recognised and rewarded through our RAISE values. Students are awarded for embedding our values within and outside the classroom.
  • Develop RESILIENCE:- Boldon Students adapt to difficult or challenging experiences, persevering to overcome setbacks.
  • Possess ASPIRATION: Boldon students are motivated to achieve their goals, which are ambitious and inspiring.
  • Demonstrate INTEGRITY: Boldon students do the “right” thing, showing respect and honesty; they are committed to their learning, always following instructions – even when faced with difficult decisions.
  • Embed SELF-DISCOVERY: Boldon students identify their interests, passions and values, clearly recognising their strengths and embracing areas of self- improvement.
  • Display EMPATHY: Boldon students strive to be kind, considerate and supportive of each other’s needs and ideas.
