SCIENCE TEACHER (Physicist/Chemist preferred) – MPS 

Fixed Term post for 1 year initially  

 Required from September 2019

Due to the increasing popularity of our rapidly improving school, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding teacher of Science who has vision, can take initiative and will contribute to our outstanding outcomes for students. The Science department is a strength of the school and is currently rated at least good.  We are fully staffed with keen, enthusiastic and qualified science specialist teachers.  This has allowed us to make rapid improvement with 2018 results showing good outcomes for students in combined science and outstanding outcomes for students studying separate science.

You will have the drive, commitment and excellent organisational skills necessary to work within our successful faculty and meet the current and future needs of all our students.

The post will initially be temporary for one academic year, with the likelihood of it becoming a permanent position for a suitable candidate. We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and those that are just coming into teaching.

You will:

  • Be an outstanding teacher of Chemistry/Science and be willing to participate in further development.
  • Have a passion for teaching Science and have the potential to inspire students with a wide range of teaching and learning strategies.
  • Be a highly motivated individual who can enable students to exceed their expectations and have high aspirations.

You will need to have the drive, commitment and excellent organisational skills necessary to work within the faculty and meet the current and future needs of our students.

COVER SUPERVISOR 

Fixed Term post for 1 year

£18,319 pa (pro rata)

 Term Time only – Full Time (actual pay = £15,500 pa)

Required from April 2019

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to gain experience in a school environment.  Boldon School is seeking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to supervise classes and deliver prepared lessons in the absence of a class teacher.

Some teaching experience would be advantageous but is not essential, although you must be confident with classroom behaviour management.

Main responsibilities include:

  • To undertake whole class supervision in the absence of the class teacher, setting work previously prepared by the teacher
  • To develop curricular knowledge as required by the school
  • To apply the school’s Behaviour Management Policy and report any difficulties to the relevant staff member
  • To set homework previously prepared by the teacher
  • To undertake observations of the students and contribute to student records

You will be an enthusiastic individual who is able to use your own initiative whilst also being able to relate well and establish a rapport with young people. You will need to be flexible and able to work constructively as a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities.

You may also be required to participate in development and training opportunities as and when they arise.
