“What is innovation? How are some people more successful than others? Do you have an aptitude for success?”
School leavers of tomorrow are going to be working in a digital world, with a competition for success that has never been harder. The Boldon School enterprise curriculum introduces our students to the future business world, in which they will build a career and lifestyle to fulfil their dreams and aspirations.
Enterprise students visit businesses that are key to the local economy, in areas that are currently in development such as the Dogger Bank Offshore and the IAMP in Sunderland. They will research the growth employment sectors and the skills shortages, by meeting key strategic partners in the North East Local Enterprise Partnership.
Once they know the growth and key sectors of the region students will examine both successful and unsuccessful businesses, so that they can develop their knowledge and understanding of the business concepts that will enhance their own decision making. Students will then learn what it means to set up and run a business enterprise, and complete assignments that encourage them to be creative and yet realistic.
Dragons Den style competition allow our students to design a fun school enterprise business. Students run corporate style business meetings to discuss world events that are impacting our local business. Students learn business skill with an emphasis on student employability skills to equip them with important attributes for the future. This subject learning is relevant to any future career goal.
