Media offers an exciting opportunity for students to explore current trends within the digital world. This means that our students are equipped with the most recent skills, knowledge and training in order for them to excel in a career or further studies for media. We allow our students to develop a range of different skills from three main sectors which include interactive media products, audio and moving image and publishing sector. Each three areas are discussed allowing students to find a passion for a specific area of media and develop their skills even further. Students sit a project like exam that follows real world project development techniques fully equipping them to deal with a relevant career for media. Students challenge their creativity to come up with innovative products for a range of scenarios that they could come across in industry. Students are given the independence to explore methods to meet each scenario and we love hearing all the different ways in which each student will explore the scenario and develop a product. This subject truly gives our students the independence to excel creatively in the 3 previously mentioned sectors of Media.

We have offered our students different opportunities to further develop their skills outside the classroom which is important to show them how to approach a task in the industry. Students have previously worked with BBC to develop a range of media products for different scenarios. They are given the opportunity to be mentored by professionals who have years of experience working on some of the most popular tv show, radio channels, website development and graphic development teams. Students get to use a range of exciting up to date software that would also be found in industry further equipping them with the skills they need to excel outside of school. Creative enterprise projects have also been a big part of media where students have worked with OrangeBus a local graphic design company in order tot develop digital image solutions that would be suitable to develop for a range of businesses. Media is an exciting exploration of the digital world and involves very different creative sectors, its truly amazing to watch our students flourish in their chosen area and enthusiastically challenge themselves to meet a range of scenarios.
