In GCSE History we study AQA specification and cover 4 units across the two years. We study USA 1920 – 1973 in which we look at what happens to America’s economy and society across each decade. We then move onto Conflict and Tension 1894 – 1918 which covers the causes of World War One, the major events and the end of the war. This unit teaches pupils the skill of writing to persuade and debate. We then teach Health and the People which is a breath study from 1100 – modern day. This covers four time periods of Medieval, Renaissance, 19th and 20th century health and considers aspects such as public health, surgery and disease. Finally we study the Normans from 1066 – 1100 looking at how Britain changed in this time and how the Normans established control. We embed exam skills and practice throughout the lessons and regularly revisit learning at key points in class time and through homework.
