French KS4 students will be learning about several topics. Not only will they be describing themselves and the world around them but also learn and give their opinions in French about key issues that are affecting them. They will practise and hone the four key skills which are listening, reading, speaking and writing.
In Year 10, in the first term students will learn about family, friends and relationships, hobbies and school. They will start to develop their French answers by including opinions and reasons.
In the second term, the focus will be on their house, town and region, as well as more learning around school rules, differences between France and UK and how to improve things. In the third, students will learn more about technology, personal relationships and holidays. They will be practising answering speaking questions.
In Year 11, in the first term students will learn about past and future holidays, France’s culture, French food, sports and healthy living as well as Francophone festivals. During the first term, there will be a mock exam and a second term a speaking mock. During the second term, they will learn about social issues and global issues, such as the environment and poverty. In the third term, the focus will be on revising and practising past exam papers.
