Spanish Key Stage 3

In Key Stage 3, students learn to talk about their lives and their worlds in Spanish. In Year 7, students learn how to describe their environment which covers the topics of introducing yourself, your bubble, hobbies, your home and your hometown. In Year 8, students will learn more about
being able to use Spanish in real-life situations and will cover topics such as food & drink, holidays and learning about Spanish-speaking cultures. In Year 9, students will further explore the topic of identity and culture in Spanish. They will learn about themes relevant to their lives
and be able to talk about family; friends, technology, social media and free-time activities. Students will become confident in reading, writing, speaking and listening in Spanish and learn key skills such as expressing opinions on different topics, vocabulary acquisition, reading and listening for gist and cultural awareness. We therefore believe that Spanish allows students to
develop vital skills that will facilitate success way beyond the MFL classroom.

Key Concepts

In year 7, students will learn how to talk about the world around them. Topics of focus for year 7 are: introducing yourself, your bubble/your world, hobbies, your home, your hometown and school.

In year 8, students focus on being able to use Spanish in real-life situations and learning more about the Spanish-speaking world. Topics include: food & drink, holidays, technology, shopping, daily life and Spanish-speaking culture.

In year 9, students will learn about the topic of identity of culture which covers the themes of: family & friends, technology in everyday life and free-time activities.
